Mace Massingill's Food Drive 2016 - #nohunger

My name is Mace and I am a 9 year old Hunger Fighter.  Two years ago, hunger became real to me on a visit to the Capital Area Food Bank (now known as the Central Texas Food Bank) after we collected food at our family Thanksgiving dinner.  It was right then that I decided I didn’t want anyone to be hungry anymore, and I set a goal to feed 1,000 people by the end of the year.  Thanks to the help of family, friends, and even strangers, we were able to feed more than 5,000 people.  That’s right! We fed more than 5 times the amount of people we set out to. Our goal for 2015 was to feed 10,000 people and we actually collected enough for more than 30,000 meals.  That is a lot of food!

But here’s the problem. There are still hungry people out there and I am not stopping until there are no more hungry people.  For 2016 I have set a goal to feed 90,000 people, but I can’t do it alone.  I hope you will help me by making a donation to the Central Texas Food Bank with the link provided.  Or if you want to collect food, I am happy to come pick it up.  Just email me at macesfooddrive@gmail.com and we will take it to the Food Bank for you.

This year we will also be launching our “Hunger Captain” program.  If you know a kid who would like to join our #nohunger team, just have them email me at macesfooddrive@gmail.com and I will send them a packet with all the details on how to run a food drive.  If everyone helps, maybe we can feed more than 100,000 people in 2016.  You never know!

Whenever I sit down at my table, there is always enough food to eat and it makes me sad that this is not true for everyone. Let’s keep collecting food until everyone’s table has enough food. The theme of my drive is #nohunger. Because I believe kids CAN end hunger and we are not stopping until the hunger is gone.

Thank you!
